Vampire Nighthawk

I've been wanting to make this for a long time, but never managed to get my hands on this card. It finally happened, and I painted my versión of Batman, being the Dark Knight from the movie by Christopher Nolan. This card fits so perfectly for this alteration, its ridiculous. This one is my personal favorite of all the alterations I hace painted until now.

Lightning Bolt

Those are the second and third Lightning Bolt I have altered. It's a really tricky card to alter, requires a lot of work and care, but i reallt dig the result and the scorching effect. The third is better tan the second, so I'm glad to see I'm improving :)

Fauna Shaman

I started altering some cards for a time and then stopped. in fact, i stopped playing magic for about two years or so. This card was the first I altered when I got back into it: i had plans for altering it before I quitted, so it sat there for a long time collecting dust. I was afraid of altering expensive cards back then, and this one was my first serious attempt. Deft Duelist

Continuing with showing some of the first cards I altered. Deft Duelist is a common, cheap card, but I really loved the illustration and the duelist theme. Hope we see more cards like this in the future. Anyways, I’m really proud how this came out, so this is one of my favourite alters.

Nacatl

This is another one of my first alters, and one of the few full frameless art I’ve done, because I usually like to keep the textbox readable. I like a lot how this card turned out, but you can see the texture of the paint on some spots: I didn’t thin the paint correctly back then, and was having trouble painting on the varnished surface of the card.

First alter ever

This was the very first alter that I made. I started painting common and cheap cards, just to experiment with the acrylics and such. They came out pretty nice, so I slowly ventured into altering more expensive and iconic cards.

What is an "altered card"?

If you are visiting this blog, you already probably know what an “altered card” it’s. If, by chance, you don’t, here’s a brief explanation: basically, you paint with acrylics, oils or pen to expand or add to the original card art. This creates a unique version of that card, adding value to it as a foil version would, but all of these alters are hand painted and it is impossible to find two exactly equal.
